FAQ
Q. Fresh or artificial flavours?
A: At Symply Syrups we only use the freshest ingredients in our syrups. Whether herbal, spice, floral, fruit, or root, all our syrups are made with fresh real ingredients. Absolutely no artificial flavours or colours!
Q. How long will my syrup last?
A: As of April 1, 2021 we have moved to using preservatives in our syrups. Due to our use of fresh ingredients our syrups do still have a best before date. The shelf life of an unopened syrup is 10 months. After opening, the syrup is good for approximately 6 months. It is recommended to keep opened syrups in the fridge to extend product life.
Q. Is my syrup bad?
A: Your syrup has gone bad if there is visible mold. If your syrup has gone bad mold can be easily seen floating on the top of your syrup. Some of our syrups have a high oil content due to the fresh ingredients used and are prone to separation (Citrus, Hot Pepper, Coconut, Vanilla). If you are unsure if your syrup has gone bad or has just separated you can give the bottle a quick shake. If the syrup has gone moldy, the mold will float back to the top after the shake. If nothing returns to the top after a quick shake your syrup is good to go!
Q. Do you use preservatives?
A: Yes. As of April 1, 2021 we use a preservative called Sorbic Acid in all our syrups. Sorbic Acid is a naturally occurring antimicrobial agent often used as a
preservative in food and drink to prevent the growth of mold, yeast, and fungi.
Q. What is Acacia Gum and why do we use it?
A: We use Acacia Gum (AKA Gum Arabic) in a handful of our syrups that have high natural oil content from the fresh ingredients used (Citrus, Hot Pepper, Coconut, Vanilla). Acacia Gum is an all-natural gum consisting of the hardened sap of the Acacia Tree. Acacia Gum is widely used in the food industry as a stabilizer and emulsifying agent in liquids. Acacia Gum binds water and oil (emulsifies) to help reduce separation in liquids with both oil and water. This is why we use it in some of our syrups.
Q. Other than cocktails and alcoholic drinks how can I use my syrups?
A: The primary use for Symply Syrups is in alcoholic beverages, however, our syrups are very versatile! Other uses include coffee, tea, desserts, baking, cheesecakes, dipping sauces, and all kinds of cooking adventures. Check out our Instagram for all primary and alternate uses! If you find a creative alternate use for your Symply Syrups we would love to hear about it! Message us through the Contact Us page or through our social media accounts.
